The new Infiniti Q50 – replacing the G37 and the first of Infiniti’s ‘Q’ badged cars – has been revealed at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. The Q50 is still unmistakably an Infiniti – but a better looking one – with the trademark curves and grill still intact but with a bit of added oomph from a new look inspired by the Infiniti LE Concept we saw in New York last spring. The Infiniti Q50 is both longer and wider than the old G37 – lower too – and a lot slippier, with a drag coefficient of just 0.26 thanks to the sleeker bodywork and lower stance.
This year's Designer's Night took place on April 21, the second evening of the recent Beijing International Auto Show. Hosted by Autodesk and supported by Car Design News, the event took place in Beijing's famous northeastern 798 art factory district and attracted over 200 designers and design leaders from around the world, from well-known international companies as well as the design leaders from the Chinese automotive design industry. Toyota has revealed more details and pictures of its Avalon sedan, first seen at last year's New York auto show. The Avalon, designed at the carmaker's Calty design studio, offers a glimpse of Toyota's new emphasis on design and to help reposition its flagship sedan within the premium mid-size segment. The height has been reduced by 25 mm while the overhangs have been reduced by 15 mm at the front and 45 mm at the rear.
